Summary: I am accredited by NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators & Interpreters) in Australia as a professional Arabic-English interpreter and translator (both directions). As an Australian of Egyptian origin, Arabic is my mother tongue and my English is as good as my Arabic. I have translated specialized text in Egypt and continued working with these overseas clients in Australia. The documents I have translated covered pharmaceutical, healthcare, IT, forestry & wood industry, political, legal and agricultural.
Skills & Experience: I am proficient in word, excel and pdf documents. Besides using online dictionaries and other aid, I build a glossary of terms specific to every client I work with. Having lived in Egypt most of my life, and intermittently in Kuwait, the US, and Australia; and having attended a German School since Kinder Garden to 10th grade and then an American High School, completing my BA (High Honours) at the American University in Cairo, I have mixed with students from various backgrounds and learned about their cultures. I have travelled widely to Arab countries, Europe, the US and lived in Australia. All of the above has helped develop an understanding of the eastern and western cultures. This is quite important in translation and interpretation in order to get the correct meaning across and not translate/interpret verbatim.

Using the glossaries specific to each client ensures that I use the right terminology particular to the client’s work. I check names, titles, places, etc to make sure of the correct agreed upon spelling. I meet deadlines and edit my work to ensure quality translation of any text.
